(4339) Effective Management of Ramsar Sites/ Management and Conservation of Waterbirds Habitat in Yellow Sea Region

The RRC-EA organized a workshop for developing an easy guidebook on Ramsar Site management and Ramsar Site Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool to assist wetland managers’ understanding on the management process of Ramsar Site and to provide a tool to improve their management effectiveness with support of Republic of Korea, Thailand, Gyeongnam Province and the Ramsar Secretariat. As a result of the workshop, the COP12 Draft Resolution XII. 15, Evaluating and ensuring the effective management and conservation of Ramsar Sites, is submitted and the Easy guidebook on Ramsar Site Management is published. Through the proposed side event, we would like to introduce the contents of the DR XII. 15 and the guidebook to the Ramsar Contracting Parties and discuss further implementation of the Ramsar Convention with the newly developed tools. This side event will include presentations that share the experiences of managing coastal wetlands and enhancing their biodiversity to support waterbird habitat requirements. Also, this event will be highlighted on the importance of stopover and wintering habitats in the YSR of Korea and the connection between the YER of Korea and other habitats in the East AsianAustralasian Flyway.
